Universal has announced that they will follow the live-action remake of “How To Train Your Dragon”, releasing to theaters on June 13, with “How To Train Your Dragon 2”, which will be released on June 11, 2027.
The announcement was made during Universal’s panel at Cinemacon in Las Vegas tonight.

Of course, we do not have any visuals other than the logo. Nor do we know if this film will be a new one or a full live-action remake of the second “How To Train Your Dragon” film.
No casting announcements have been made yet either. We do know that the first film will star Mason Thames (Hiccup), Nico Parker (Astrid), Nick Frost (Goober the Belch), Julian Dennison( Fishlegs Ingerman), Gabriel Howell (Snotlout Jorgenson), Bronwyn James (Ruffnut Thorston), Harry Trevaldwyn (Tuffnut Thorston), Ruth Codd (Phlegma), Peter Serafinowicz (unknown role), and Murray McArthur (unknown role), with Gerard Butler (Stoick the Vast.)
We do not know how many of these actors would return for a second film.
Universal must be expecting the first film to do well enough to warrant the second one. With this news, the first live-action film, and the Isle of Berk opening up at Epic Universe on May 22, Universal is showing that they are going all in on the popular franchise.
