Typhoon Lagoon To Reopen Soon and Blizzard Beach Celebrates 30 Years!

Disney has news about both of its waterparks at Walt Disney World. They have announced the reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon as well as a 30th anniversary celebration for Blizzard Beach in April.

Once upon a time, both water parks opened at the same time, but recently, when one water park’s door closed, the other one opens.

Typhoon Lagoon closed down last November and will reopen on May 1.

Disney probably wanted it open for the special ticketed H2O Glow Nights events.

When it reopens, guests can look forward to some of the highlights, including:
  • “The Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, which is the largest wave pool in North America.
  • Miss Adventure Falls. The high-octane family raft attraction that always offers thrills for anyone looking for a nautical adventure.
  • Crush n’ Gusher. The thrilling “water coaster” that features three 400-foot-long tube slides named for the various fruits they once transported.
  • Castaway Creek. The scenic lazy river that encircles the entire water park.”

Starting on April 1, 2025, Disney will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Blizzard Beach.

Some of the highlights of the celebration include

“..A high-energy DJ spinning some toe-tapping tunes on the deck near the Polar Pub…. fun interactions with Mickey and Minnie decked out in their winter attire…. snowman bowling and character-themed tubes for floating down Cross Country Creek.”

The celebration will continue throughout April with special food and beverage offerings, dance parties, and games with prizes like wintery-themed rubber ducks, snowy bubbles, and snowflake tattoos.

Since the event is only listed to last through April, 2025, they will likely continue the trend of keeping only one water park open at a time.  April’s end will likely see the closure of Blizzard Beach with the May 1 opening of Typhoon Lagoon.

I miss the days when you could visit both, but it’s probably easier and cheaper to send the Cast Members to the other water park instead of staffing two.
