Travis Kelce Joins Activist Investor Firm To Leverage Changes at Six Flags Parks

Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce, who is also known for being engaged to Taylor Swift, is not using his money to try and make improvements to Six Flags theme parks.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sports star has joined activist investment firm Jana Partners to seek improvements for investors and guests at Six Flags owned theme parks.

Six Flags owns various parks across the country including Knott’s Berry Farm and Cedar Point (one of my kids’ favorites.)

Currently Jana Partners, Kelce, former J.D. Power CEO Dave Habiger, and former Gap CEO Glenn Murphy own about 9% of the stock for the Six Flags company. They activist investors want to “engage with the company’s board of directors and management regarding opportunities to enhance shareholder value and improve the guest experience.”

Six Flags merged with Cedar Fair in 2024 and announced closures for both Six Flags California’s Great America of Santa Clara and Six Flags America and its water park, Hurricane Harbor, in Bowie, Maryland.

With the combination of the two amusement park companies Six Flags now oversees 42 theme parks.

Stocks for the company have dropped about 48% this year, but saw a slight uptick with this news.

As for Kelsey he has a personal interest in seeing the theme parks do better, saying,

“I am a lifelong Six Flags fan and grew up going to these parks with my family and friends. The chance to help make Six Flags special for the next generation is one I couldn’t pass up.”

Jana Partners managing partner Scott Ostfeld also offered a comment saying,

“We look forward to working with the Six Flags board and management to unlock shareholder value for the benefit of all stakeholders.”

Travis Kelsey joining the team is a smart move that could give the activist group leverage and publicity to enact changes at the company.
