Disney and Pixar have just dropped the trailer for “Toy Story 5” and it has confirmed the rumor that the story will be classic toys meet technology with Lilypad the digital tablet being introduced.
Lilypad reminds me of the VTech Leapfrog my son had years ago.

A package arrives for Bonnie and the toys look on in fear as Lilypad is unboxed (the scenes are likely from separate parts of the film as Buzz, Woody, and Jessie wouldn’t be responding with Bonnie around.)
Greta Lee from “Tron: Ares” is set to voice Lilypad for the film.
Here is the trailer,
Disney’s write up for the trailer says,
“In the teaser, fans are introduced to the new character Lilypad, a high-tech frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee (“Past Lives,” “The Morning Show,” “TRON: Ares”) that makes Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs exponentially harder when they have to go head to head with the all-new threat to playtime.”
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen have returned to reprise the voices of Woody and Buzz, respectively. Also returning is Joan Cusack as Jessie, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog and Tony Hale as Forky.
Conan O’Brien has joined the franchise as the new character called Smarty Pants.
Andrew Stanton, who co-wrote “Toy Story 1-4” wrote “Toy Story 5” and is the only one listed as the screenwriter.
“Toy Story 5” is the 31st Pixar film. Hopefully it performs better than “Lightyear” now that we have the original characters and voice actors back. Pixar tried to make a Buzz Lightyear film without the classic Buzz Lightyear and voice actor Tim Allen, but that did not go well for them.
When they make films like “Inside Out 2” Disney has seen far greater success at the box office when comparted to choices like “Elio” or “Lightyear.”
