Halloween Horror Nights food

Top Three Things You Should Be Eating at Universal Orlando This Week (October 22, 2023)

Less than two weeks remain of Halloween Horror Nights 2023 at Universal Orlando Resort. Based on that, we decided to sneak in some more of the best food items at Halloween Horror Nights for this week’s Top Three Things.

The last of us

Yes, we love talking about Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) food. In fact, we enjoy it more than talking about the HHN houses and scare zones. Over the last few years, the Halloween Horror Nights food has improved in quality. For the record, you are allowed to judge us for that.

This week’s Top Three Things will include a classic HHN food item and two standouts you should try before Halloween Horror Nights ends on November 4, 2023. We will start with two of the best food items at HHN. In both cases, these should not taste as good as they do.

Top Three Things: Vegan Burnt Ends Poutine – $9.99

top three things

This plant-based item stands out as the first Halloween Horror Nights item we tried this year. We ate it on the rainy opening night of this season’s HHN. This simple-sounding item consists of fries topped with beefless burnt ends gravy, vegan cheeses, and scallions.

We review a large quantity of vegan menu items. This poutine’s alt-meat and “cheese” provided plenty of flavor. This should not taste as good as it does based on the ingredients used. However, we found ourselves ordering this several times.

We also felt the portion size of this HHN item makes a good value, especially if you add in a potential annual pass discount. Every other time we tasted this dish after opening night, we also enjoyed it. This provides a hearty light meal or snack to keep you going on a late Halloween Horror Nights evening.

Left Behind Ravioli – $9.99

Another Halloween Horror Nights food item that the individual ingredients should not taste as good together as they do would be the Left Behind Ravioli. The Left Behind Ravioli comes from the Sting Alley area with a booth themed to “The Last of Us” video game and Halloween Horror Nights house.

This HHN food item includes mini cheese ravioli with marinara, truffle cream, garlic bread, and tempura fried enoki mushrooms. It also comes with a souvenir can. Though this ravioli will not blow you away as impressive, a food item with a souvenir for under ten dollars makes a great value at a theme park.

Pizza Fries (Yes, Pizza Fries) – $11.49

top three things

Before you get the wrong idea, pizza fries still rank lower on our food list than pizza tots at Green Eggs and Ham Café at Universal Islands of Adventure. However, Universal Orlando Resort does not sell pizza tots in Universal Studios Florida at all. In fact, guests can only purchase pizza fries during Halloween Horror Nights evenings.

The Classic Pizza Fries consist of the components you would expect. The official menu description reads, “French fries topped with marinara sauce, melted cheese, pepperoni and sausage.”

These serve as comfort food for participants of Halloween Horror Nights. You can also buy a vegan version of pizza fries. Some non-vegan diners prefer vegan pizza tots, in fact. For a classic HHN experience, pizza fries provide a great option. You can find them at the pizza location in KidZone or Louie’s Italian Kitchen quick service in the New York area of Universal Studios Florida.

Next week, we will have another Top Three Things list for guests visiting Universal Orlando Resort. Please join us again then as we move from the Halloween Horror Nights season to prepare for the winter holiday season. As always, eat like you mean it!
