Walt Disney World already has the People Mover down for an extended time and now they are adding two more extended refurbishments to the list. Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Belle Riverboat will both be closing for a few months starting on October 5th.
Neither one of the attractions were very busy, but with the larger crowds Disney is letting in and the social distanced queues, they likely need every attraction open that they can to try and distribute guests. FastPass+ is usually used to control the flow, but that has been shut down.
I do recommend going on the Liberty Belle at least once. It’s a boat ride down the “river” that circles past Frontierland and the mountains, around to The Haunted Mansion and back into Liberty Square. Disney has a whole story that ties all the attractions together and you can only get that on the boat. It also gives you some different views of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and especially of the Haunted Mansion!
The two attractions are scheduled to be shut down from October 5 – January 2, 2021. Of course that is a flexible timeline. It can all change.
