If there’s been one complaint we’ve been hearing for years regarding Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, it’s the overreliance on CGI. OK, the lack of direction is also a common annoyance, but we will focus on abundant bluescreens. Luckily, it appears that Thunderbolts* may break Marvel’s addiction to computer-generated imagery.
While speaking with The Daily, one of the stars of the upcoming semi-grounded superhero movie said we should expect a more human story focused on people rather than spectacle.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who previously played Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, delivered the good news. In the interview, she said, “They are trying to stay away from [CGI] as much…”
The former Seinfeld star also commented on how the story will be a more character-driven outing, something we’ve only seen done well in the Guardians trilogy:
“They are very much focused on … the humans’ story. Believe it or not. I think they are trying to sort of go back to their roots, as it were, for real. So there is a lot of focus on that.“
Check out the full interview below.
In other Thunderbolts* news, it was recently revealed that Florence Pugh was making a lot of dough for the film. Eight figures is the rumored amount. That’s not bad, considering the movie is a continuation of mediocre MCU TV shows and a lackluster Black Widow movie.
Thunderbolts* should arrive in theatres in May 2025 unless a delay happens. Other returning stars include Sebastian Stan, Harrison Ford (who we should see as General Ross in Cap 4), and David Harbour.
If you’ve been to a McDonald’s recently, you’ll probably notice the Captain America: Brave New World Happy Meal toys. Don’t look too close, or the packaging will ruin some plot details. These spoilers may also apply to a specific character in Thunderbolts*.
