In the last two weeks, there have been three deaths reported at the Walt Disney World resort and two of them have been ruled suicide. The most recent death also happened at the Contemporary Resort near the Magic Kingdom, at the Bay Lake Tower.
According to reports, Matthew Cohn, 23, jumped from the 12th floor and suffered “multiple traumatic injuries” leading to his death.

Cohn was from Winter Garden, Florida, which is near the resort. He checked into the resort on Wednesday, paying in cash, and then he jumped on Thursday.
Leading up to his death, Cohn had been living in Los Angeles and was trying to become a singer and then an NFL referee.
Reports indicate that he also lived briefly in Nashville before recently moving back home. He was living with his parents before he committed suicide.
It isn’t clear if he was inspired to do this after Summer Equitz, 31, jumped from the Contemporary Resort and committed suicide on October 14, 2025. But his was the second suicide at the resort within 10 days.
If you are considering suicide, please call the suicide hotline by dialing 988.
