The Marvels Is Likely Going To Come In Under $55 Million For Its Opening Weekend

Marvel’s latest film “The Marvels” doesn’t appear to be going higher, further and faster that other Marvel films. The new movie only did about $6.6 million in Thursday previews and it now seems that the film will come in under $55 million domestically. If it does, it will be the lowest opening for a Marvel MCU film (Phase 1-5).

If it comes under $55 million “The Marvels” will have come in under DC’s “The Flash” film that was considered a box office flop. Other superhero “flops” like Marvel’s “Eternals” and DC’s “Black Adam” came in even higher at $71 million $67 million respectively.

Right now the film is holding a 62% Critical Score on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences have the film at 71% All Audience score and 85% “Verifited Audience” score.

I have heard from a few people who’ve seen it and they said it was better than they thought it would be, but they also said they weren’t expecting much to begin with. Some have said it is better than the first “Captain Marvel” film and it has some funny parts, but overall it “isn’t one of the top 25 MCU films.”

The villain is not a Thanos-level threat like the trailers made her out to be. That might also be coming around to bite them.

We shall see how this pans out. We don’t yet know what the global box office will bring either. Given that the budget is reportedly $270 million for this film, it is going to need to bring $650-$700 million just to break even after box office cuts and promotion. Frankly, I’m not sure it’s going to perform that well.
