The ever popular Five Nights At Freddy’s series, created by Scott Cawthorn, blew up in the early 2010s thanks to Let’s Play channels on YouTube such as PewDiePie, Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, Tobuscus, and more spreading the word through their gameplay videos.
The concept of animatronics based on locations such as Chuck E. Cheese and Showbiz Pizza Place coming to life and stalking the player seemed rather terrifying. The series became so popular that it spawned multiple sequels, spin-offs, mountains of merchandise, multiple imitations/fan projects (Candy’s, Rachel’s, and Popgoe’s), and even a theatrical film by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse.
Here is the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie trailer.
Nearly a decade ago, the world-renowned dark ride development company Sally Dark Rides unveiled to the public a concept for a dark ride themed after the video game series at the 2016 IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) Expo. This demonstration showed off a Foxy animatronic with sound effects and a stone light. While not a fully functional piece, it was still a proof of concept.

Multiple pieces of concept art were also displayed, giving an idea of what the ride would look like in action. The ride would seemingly have guests enter the abandoned pizzeria and board a red vehicle resembling a golf cart. They would use flashlights to aim at the spooky animatronics jumping out at them. It is unknown if the ride would have a point system, adding to the immersion of the experience.

After years of no news the attraction has been considered lost media (despite never physically existing in the first place). This hasn’t stopped fans from continuing to discuss it all these years later. But thanks to the inquisitive people over at @LostMediaBuster on Twitter/X, not only has the Foxy statue been found, but Sally Dark Rides themselves responded to the post, giving fans hope.

This is definitely good news as it shows that Sally Dark Rides is still committed to seeing it happen. Sally comes up with the concepts of the rides and aids in the construction and then the concepts are sold to parks and resorts who are willing to buy them.
In the replies to the tweet many started to tag in Universal Studios. Given the fact that their film branch developed the movie and are currently working on the sequel, it would definitely feel appropriate. With the upcoming Epic Universe park a FNAF ride could fit somewhere in the park. Perhaps between the Super Nintendo Land section and the Dark Universe section, blending video games with horror.
What do you think? Should Universal buy the Five Nights At Freddy’s dark ride concept for their parks? Or should someone else bring it to life? Let us know your thoughts.
