Disney’s latest Star Wars show, The Acolyte, is not “winning” with audiences the way Disney and the media want people to think. While it is not the worst show for viewership, it is the worst for audience scores. After “The Acolyte” Episode 3, even more people seem to be turning against the show.
But is the show the big performer that Disney claims it is?
While “The Acolyte” is the top show on Disney+ in 2024, it did not do the best.
Disney’s information indicated that “Ahsoka” had 14 million views in the first five days, which bests “The Acolyte” first five-day total of 11 million by 3 million views.
When you compare it to other shows with Neilson ratings (according to Jedi Temple Archives), “The Acolyte” is decidedly less popular.
Mando S3: 23.51 million views
Obi-Wan Kenobi: 11.27 million views
Book of Boba Fett: 10.33 million views
Ahsoka: 8.55 million views
The Acolyte: 6.8 million views (estimate)
Andor: 5.42 million views
Disney didn’t say it was their biggest “Star Wars” debut—no, they said it was their biggest debut in 2024.
Contrary to the articles out there painting everyone who doesn’t like the new show as a bigot, the show’s audience scores are not great. The scores dropped even more after the third episode, and they’re only at 20%.
Even the Critical Score dropped from 91% to 85%

Of course, many argue that people are “review bombing” the show or “review boosting” the show. That is likely true, but now the critical score is also starting to drop.
Until the show runs its course, it will be hard to fully compare it to other “Star Wars” shows, but at this point, it doesn’t seem to be performing as well as some would want you to believe.
While “Star Wars” needs to take new directions outside of “The Skywalker Saga,” we need people in charge who fundamentally understand what has made the franchise so important and popular for decades, or it won’t last another decade.
