Test Track Ride Vehicles Are Getting a New Look

Test Track is currently undergoing a refurbishment and re-theme in EPCOT. Part of the changes involve overhauling the ride vehicles. Walt Disney Imagineering is making several changes to the vehicles so they blend more with the environment and reflect the new theming of the attraction.

“The new vehicles are a much subtler design. They’re darker to blend in with the environment a little more. We’re leaning more towards a R&D (research and development) version.

For the vehicles themselves, we are replacing a lot of the interiors. They get new seats, new paint, new vehicle wraps, new graphics on the interior.”

Matt also explained what the Graphics Fabrication department does, saying,

“Graphics fabrication, we’re more like design and production managers for graphics. We’re responsible for working with the graphic designers and taking their designs from concept to reality.”

GM sponsored the original attraction, World of Motion, when EPCOT opened. However, that attraction was shuttered in 1996. The building was torn down and Test Track was built in its place. When the new attraction opened, it was sponsored by Chevrolet.

With the new sponsorship comes a new re-theme of the attraction. The new version of the ride will pay homage to the original World of Motion attraction, and I am here for it!

We don’t know when the attraction will reopen specifically, but we do know it will open sometime between late summer and “late” 2025.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the new version of Test Track?
