Disney doesn’t learn. Their recent live-action reimaginings have been hit or miss and not exactly box office winners, and their upcoming “Snow White” is looking like it will be a big disaster. So what does Disney do next? Apparently, they will move forward on more live-action remakes like “Tangled.”
Deadline has reported that Disney is in talks with Michael Gracey (“The Greatest Showman”) to direct the live-action “Tangled” remake.
It’s said to “follow along the lines of the animated version.” So why do we need this?
So far, Disney has a writer for the film- Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who was behind the box office bomb “Thor: Love and Thunder.” They also have hired Kristin Burr and Lucy Kitada to produce the film.
This article might seem like I’m crapping on Disney, but the live-action remakes are getting ridiculous, and they have proven to be declining at the box office. Fans are over it.
“Mufasa: The Lion King” will be released on December 20, 2024, at the same time as “Sonic 3”, and it might even be beaten by the blue hedgehog! Depending on where you look, “Sonic 3” is said to be tracking ahead of the new Disney live-action film.
As a Disney blogger I can tell you that I keep seeing fans discuss how tired they are of live-action adaptations of Disney’s animated catalog.
People are over it!
At this point I’m starting to wonder: if we actually use reverse psychology and keep encouraging Disney to make live-action remakes…you think they’ll stop?

ffs not every movie needs to remade as a live-action, Tangled was good as-is, it doesn’t need to be remade as a live-action

I’ve never been more nervous for a Disney movie!
Tangled is my favourite Disney movie of all time and considering their track record of live action versions it’s literally 50/50 whether or not they do it justice! 😰

STOP MAKING EVERYTHING LIVE-ACTION
STOP MAKING EVERYTHING LIVE-ACTION
STOP MAKING EVERYTHING LIVE-ACTION

Come on man why do they have to do every single movie in their entire line up. We don’t need a live action remake for every movie known to mankind

Anyone else sick of animated media being turned into live-action?
What’s next? Live action Shrek? Live action Kung Fu Panda? Live action Toy Story?
Seriously, anybody, make it stop…
You know what I miss? 2D animated movies. Those were f*cking beautiful. https://t.co/eSEuHTYlBU pic.twitter.com/IhLmzhMOGh

Does Disney actually know how to make anything original? No, right? It must be so depressing to work there https://t.co/YPCvVCliLm

Won’t be excited or interested as much until I know what it’ll come out of it. So just going to sit here and wait not expecting or hoping for much other than hope it’s not going to look like the Lion King or Snow White (which I wanted to be excited for but can’t). https://t.co/1jMirqMmQX pic.twitter.com/9yC9iBJPLA

I hate that everything has to be made live action.
Like sure Snow White and some of these other 50+ year old movies whatever.
But animated movies that that 10-15 years old? Why https://t.co/0nCypk2TfE

“Tangled” is one of my all-time favorite Disney films, and I do not want to see yet another live-action remake of it. It’s unnecessary.
People are already voting with their wallets and telling Disney they don’t want these, but Disney is just doubling down anyway.
I guess if they want to flush money down the toilet, that is their choice, but I know they will lose money and then raise the prices for streaming or the parks on Disney fans to make up for it.
They just need to stop.
