Stitch is crashing Christmas again, and this time he wants you to jog.
runDisney has turned its 2026 Virtual 12Ks of Christmas over to Stitch. It’s three 4K races, one Stitchmas Challenge and a box of goodies that includes a Stitch Santa hat.
Registration opens Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. Eastern on runDisney.com. The price is $185.
What are the runDisney Stitch virtual races?
Three 4K races, each with its own theme.
The Cute & Fluffy Virtual 4K goes for cozy Christmas Eve vibes. The Mele Kalikimaka Virtual 4K is inspired by Hawaii, which is home turf for Stitch. And the ‘Ohana Wonderland Virtual 4K is all about family at the holidays.
Put all three together and you’ve covered 12 kilometers, or about 7.5 miles. That’s where the “12Ks” name comes from.
You can run them anytime from Dec. 1 to Dec. 31, anywhere you want. A treadmill counts. So does your neighborhood.

The medals are the main event for most runDisney fans. Four of them for one challenge is a heavy haul for a virtual race.
What do the Stitch race names mean?
Two of them lean on Hawaiian words, which fits a character who crash-landed on Kauai.
“Mele Kalikimaka” is the Hawaiian way of saying Merry Christmas. Most people know it from the Bing Crosby song.
“’Ohana” means family.
Anyone who has seen Lilo & Stitch knows the line that goes with it: “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” For a family-friendly holiday race, it’s a pretty easy pick for a name.
How much is the runDisney Virtual 12Ks of Christmas?
$185 for the full challenge.
Split across the three races and 12 kilometers, that works out to about $61.67 a race, or roughly $24.80 a mile. Of course, the miles are the free part. The $185 really buys four medals, a hat and a pin with Stitch on them.
For comparison, an in-person runDisney weekend at Disney World costs far more once you add park tickets, a hotel and airfare. The virtual series is the cheap seat for fans who want the medal without the travel.
When does runDisney registration open?
Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. Eastern. Set a reminder if you want in, since the popular runDisney events tend to go fast.
The races themselves don’t start until December. runDisney hasn’t posted shipping dates for the medals and gear yet.
Why is Stitch everywhere right now?
Because Stitch is having a moment.
The live-action Lilo & Stitch passed $1 billion worldwide in 2025, and Disney has a sequel in the works. The character is all over Disney merch, from popcorn buckets to plush, and he’s a regular in the parks.
So a Stitch Christmas run was probably inevitable. The surprising part is that he’s the one wearing the Santa hat. Given his track record with other people’s stuff, he’d usually be the one stealing it.
