Star Wars Insider To Release Final Issue in 2026

After 31 years and over 230 issues, the “Star Wars Insider,” produced by Titan Publishing Group, is set to “end its current run in 2026” with Issue #237.

The magazine started out as the “Official Star Wars Fan Club” newsletter in 1978, eventually called “Bantha Tracks”. Later, a “Lucasfilm Fan Club” magazine started in 1987 when “Bantha Tracks” ended.

In 1994, the name was changed to the “Star Wars Insider” with issue #23. I remember going to Waldenbooks to buy magazines from time to time.

Now it’s wrapping up, or at least this iteration is, since it’s worded as “current run”. It sounds like it could go fully digital or be absorbed into other official “Star Wars” outlets. It doesn’t sound like an ending but a change.

The next “Star Wars Insider” issue #235, releasing on December 9, is set to be a 10th anniversary issue of “The Force Awakens”.  Issues #236 and #237 will release next year.

“Star Wars Insider” editor Christopher Cooper offered this comment to StarWars.com, saying,

“Insider has been a big part of my Star Wars experience for a very long time, both as a fan and professionally. It’s been an honor to explore the galaxy far, far away with our readers during my eight year tenure. But publishing has changed immeasurably since the Lucasfilm Fan Club magazine, and we live in an increasingly digital age, which sadly means that this chapter in Star Wars Insider’s history is coming to an end.”

Senior Editor Brett Rector added,

“I certainly share Christopher’s sentiments. Having served as editor-in-chief of Insider during the lead up to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in 2004 and 2005, and then to edit the magazine for the past 9 years for Lucasfilm Publishing has been the greatest privilege of my life. To say the magazine occupies a huge place in my heart is an understatement.”
