Maul Shadow Lord Star Wars

Star Wars Darth Maul Animated Series Coming To Disney+ In 2026

Star Wars enthusiasts, brace yourselves—Maul is back! Lucasfilm has officially announced a brand-new animated series titled “Maul – Shadow Lord,” featuring the return of fan-favorite voice actor Sam Witwer as the iconic villain.

Witwer first brought the character to life in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and has reprised this compelling portrayal in “Star Wars Rebels” and the 2018 film “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” Set in the aftermath of the climactic final season of “The Clone Wars,” this series follows Maul as he rises once again, uniting and leading the galaxy’s criminal underworld.

Athena Portillo, Lucasfilm’s Vice President of Animation, alongside Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni, teased fans at Star Wars Celebration Japan with exciting details:

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you too much,” Portillo said. “But what I can say is Sam Witwer’s involvement in this show has been pristine. I’m very excited about him being able to review the scripts and provide input as well. Dave Filoni and Sam created the character for animation, so it’s very important to hear his thoughts for the character’s depth.

Lucky attendees were treated to an exclusive sneak peek at the series’ innovative new animation style, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation.
