After the release of Avengers: Endgame the Marvel Cinematic Universe admittedly hasn’t been drawing the kind of numbers it used to. A number of projects were impacted by the 2020 COVID-19 global pandemic, but many of its recent projects have either been poorly received or outright underperformed at the box office.
The only real runaway success was 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home which brought together two decades worth of Spider-Man films in one package with both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield teaming up with Tom Holland in a multiverse adventure. 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine also did rather well and also had a multiverse storyline bringing back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Now with the Multiverse Saga drawing to a close in 2027 with Avengers: Secret Wars we can probably expect to see a number of other multiverse appearances, even bringing back characters we may have thought were permanently gone. Robert Downy Jr. returning to play Doctor Doom is a good example.
What about the Spider-Men? Will any of them also reappear for this inter-dimensional showdown?
Well according to know insider @MyTimeToShineH on X/Twitter the answer is yes… but not in a way some may expect. In a response to a gif of the three Spider-Men hugging near the end of No Way Home they stated “They’ll be forced to face off against each other in Secret Wars.“
While nothing has been confirmed over what the story will be or what actors will appear in this epic crossover it would definitely be a rather sad thing to see this trio fight each other after they formed a brotherly bond the last time they saw each other.
What do you think? Will Holland be forced to fight his counterparts in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars? Let us kn ow your thoughts.
