SONY’s Official Twitter Responds To Demand For Spider-Man 4

The recent blowout success of Spider-Man: No Way Home has had fans speculating what could possibly be next for the web slinging, pizza eating super hero. We saw the return of two previous Spider-Man actors, those being Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, as well as multiple past villains. Now seeing the past Spider-Men come back fans have been asking to see them officially come back in some way.

There have been cries for not only a third film in The Amazing Spider-Man with Garfield series since the third chapter was scrapped; But also the finale to the original Tobey Maguire series that lasted from 2002 to 2007. There was a fourth film planned as the finale but due to creative issues between Raimi and SONY over the story it was scrapped.

With the fans of the Sam Raimi trilogy campaigning on twitter to try and get the fourth and final chapter made SONY’s official twitter account responded to the massive amount of support the movement has gained after @DiscussingFilm posted a story on their twitter feed:

Unfortunately, not the answer people were hoping for, but it does at least let us know that some part of SONY is paying attention to the demand for more Sam Raimi Spider-Man.

With SONY planning on expanding heavily into their own Spider-Man Cinematic Universe or Spider-Verse after their eventually breakup with Marvel/Disney they will want to cater to fans as much as possible to avoid a repeat of their last failed attempt at a shared universe.

With the massive success of No Way Home and a seemingly renewed interest in the careers of both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire it is possible this isn’t the last we see of these two versions of Spider-Man. Either that or this was just a one and done deal as a celebration of the character’s film history.

What do you think? Do you want the Sam Raimi series to continue?
