At this year’s D23 Expo, the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Live-Action Remake of the 1937 classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, the film is said to reinvent the classic tale as well as add some new songs.
However, not everything is sunshine and rainbows. Despite the trailer reportedly receiving over 120 million views in a 24-hour period, it hasn’t been received as well as the company had hoped. As of the writing of this article, the trailer on YouTube, with 6.2 million views, has over 462K Dislikes compared to only 64K Likes.
The film’s production has been surrounded by controversy, from its lead star’s comments disregarding the original film to Disney’s decision not to hire actors with dwarfism to portray the Seven Dwarfs.
Much of the trailer’s comment section on the video lines up with the various issues fans have with the film. In addition, many comments were made on how much CGI the film was using as well, saying that it looked more animated than live-action.

The massive number of dislikes mirrors that of the first teaser trailer of the 2023 Live-Action Remake of The Little Mermaid, which currently holds the record for the most dislikes for any Hollywood film in history with 3.8 million dislikes. The 2023 film, while not a flop, reportedly only made Disney a profit of $46 million after advertising and theater cuts—far lower than past remakes like Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King.
Earlier this year, an insider claimed that the production was not going well, and even earlier in late 2023, the budget for the film was reportedly getting so expensive that it was too expensive for Disney to scrap.
As of right now, the budget is reportedly $209 Million (before marketing), meaning the film will have to make somewhere around $418 million just to break even. But with the negative press being more severe than The Little Mermaid, there is a chance that this princess will remain in a deep sleep.
What do you think? Will the remake do well when it releases next March? Are you planning on seeing it?
Will it underperform at the box office?
Will the trailer eventually surpass The Little Mermaid trailer’s dislike record?
