The election has been quite polarizing for Hollywood and the country. People are allowed to have their opinions about the candidates and the results. However, given Disney’s firing of Gina Carano from Star Wars over her social media posts, which have resulted in a lawsuit, it is not a good look to have the actress from your next big live-action film wishing no peace to more than half your audience.
“Snow White” star Rachel Zegler reportedly took to social media to air her grievances against the election results and President Trump. In these posts, she talks about the “deep sickness” that led to Trump’s win, says Trump and his supporters should not know peace, and she says “f*ck Trump.”
Rachel Zegler hopes Trump supporters never know peace, tells her followers to get off X because Elon Musk supported Trump, and ends with- “Fuck Donald Trump.”
THIS is Disney’s Snow White. (btw she probably won’t face any consequences for posting this by Disney due to their… pic.twitter.com/daDVfUi3l1

Why does this matter?
Disney has spent a lot of money on the live-action “Snow White” film. Before all the reworking, post-production, CGI, etc. that was done in 2024, the budget was already over $225 million. It has likely ballooned significantly since. We haven’t even gotten to the marketing push yet, either.
Rachel Zegler has likely cost Disney the audience for this film.
She will not keep her mouth shut. From telling the audience that the original film was “weird” because the prince “stalks” Snow White, to saying that the story is about Snow White being the “fairest” leader of them all.
In regard to the love story element of the film she simply said ““She’s not going to be saved by the prince and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love.”
Zegler has gone out of her way to disparage the original film and alienate audiences. Yet Disney sits back and lets it happen.
Now, she is dissing over 1/2 the audience for the film.
When is enough enough?
Disney’s Double Standard
Back to the issue of Gina Carano’s lawsuit. Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars actors have made political comments for years with zero repercussions. Until Zegler, the comments mostly came from male actors like Pedro Pascal, Mark Hamill, and Mark Ruffalo. None of them were fired like Carano was. Now Zegler has gone all in on political hot takes, too, and she has yet to be fired or publicly chastised by Disney.

Mark Hamill’s entire X presence is him posting about politics but on the left side.
Meanwhile, Carano was fired and publicly called “abhorrent” by Lucasfilm. Then Disney repeated the sentiment in their attempts to dismiss the case, which failed.
What did she do?
Carano politely refused to put pronouns in her bio. That led to months of targeted harassment against her.

Then she posted this quote about the Holocaust,
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors… even by children… Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”
To many, it comes across as Disney protecting the rights of actors to make political statements when they are on the left but firing the one woman who made political statements they felt were on the right. Nothing Carano said compares to the stuff coming out of Rachel Zegler.
Disney needs “Snow White” to make money!
Disney needs “Snow White” to make a significant amount of money to break even. The more Rachel Zegler shoots her mouth off, the less likely it is for Disney to recoup the costs of their film. They were already fighting an uphill battle after the dwarf fiasco and the news that the story was less and less likely to be like the original animated film.
But their real issue is the lead actress, who can not stop insulting the audience repeatedly, especially when more than 50% of the audience voted opposite of her.
She is completely entitled to her own opinion, but when Carano was fired, I believe the argument was, “Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences.” This is more than just about the “Snow White” film; it is about the big lawsuit facing Disney over gender and political discrimination.
Zegler and other actors are just giving Carano’s side more and more ammunition to win against Disney in both the legal court and the court of opinion.
Actors are representatives of the studios and films they work on. They are the public face of the project and all the people involved who worked hard on the project. It’s not unreasonable to expect them not to go out of their way to alienate the potential audience.
Frankly, Rachel Zeglers behavior is likely going to bite her in the arse when it comes to getting work later. She will likely be seen as a loose cannon and a liability, especially if “Snow White” tanks at the box office.
