Martin Klebba Pirates of the Caribbean

Snow White Actor Says It’s Hard To Find 7 Dwarf Actors Who Can Act Together

Martin Klebba, who voices Grumpy in the live-action “Snow White” has been diving head first into the controversy and is seemingly defending Disney’s choices for this film. Now he apparently gone deeper, even indicating that it would be hard to find seven “little people” who could act well together.

What has Klebba said?

Recently, he was upset that Disney decided to tone down the premiere of “Snow White” in Los Angeles. Many assume it was to keep the Snow White actress Rachel Zegler from saying something else stupid. But Klebba might want to make up for it?

He told The Hollywood Reporter,

“It really isn’t going to be a red carpet,” says Klebba, who emphasizes that he is very proud of the movie and cannot wait for audiences to see it. “It’s going to be at the El Capitan [Theatre], which is cool. But it’s basically going to be a pre-party, watch the movie, and that’s it. There’s not going to be this whole hoopla of, ‘Disney’s first f*cking movie they ever made.’ Because of all this controversy, they’re afraid of the blowback from different people in society.”

Now he is stepping in it even more with comments made to the New York Post!

The actor is defending Disney’s choice not to use actors with dwarfism in the live-action film.

First, he said,

“When it comes to the animated part of it, I guess you could have left it with just doing the animals animated.”

Then he went in against the little people acting community saying,

“And you could have tried to maybe find seven little people. But you’ve also got to find seven little people who could act and have good chemistry together. I don’t know other than Mr. [Peter] Dinklage or Warwick Davis, you know —— there’s only a couple guys out there that really could pull off the acting,” he added. Klebba has called “Game of Thrones” star Dinklage “one of the top 100 actors of all time.”

When asked why other “little people” weren’t voices of the dwarfs, he said,

“They were welcome to audition for the voiceover. If they decided not to, that’s their right.”

Which is valid, but then he continued,

“But I didn’t look at it like that. I was like, look, if it’s going to be CG then they’re looking at me just as an actor and they’re just giving me the opportunity. I was one of the seven that got to be a voice of one of the most iconic franchises ever. So that’s why I did it.”

Klebba has worked with Disney before on “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and he seems to feel that he somehow owes Disney his allegiance.

“I was like, the people are great, and Disney has been great to me, with [‘Pirates of the Caribbean’]. So I couldn’t turn it down, you know, playing me basically — Grumpy. I’m not mad at Disney. Disney, like I said, they’re the ones who fed me, and they’re the ones who allowed me to have the life I’ve had.”

I am not sure if this will help or hurt the film and his place in the community?
