Sinclair Broadcast Group Will Continue to Preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

While Disney announced that Jimmy Kimmel would return to ABC tomorrow night, that doesn’t mean that broadcasters will air the show. Sinclair has stated that they will not be airing “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” when it returns to air on Tuesday, September 23.

Sinclair Broadcast Group released a statement saying,

Previously, Sinclair demanded that Kimmel issue an apology to the Kirk family and make personal donations to the family and Turning Point USA.

The fact that they are still refusing to air the show may be an indication that Kimmel will not apologize or make donations.

Sinclair said,

“Sinclair will not lift the suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on our stations until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.
Sinclair also calls upon Mr. Kimmel to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family. Furthermore, we ask Mr. Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA.
Regardless of ABC’s plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform.”

While demanding donations was a stretch, Kimmel really needs to apologize for no other reason than that he himself complained when Aaron Rodgers said he was on the Epstein list (which he was not).  Kimmel demanded an apology from Rodgers (which he didn’t get but should have) and said he apologizes when he gets something wrong.

Kimmel said,

“When I do get something wrong, which happens on rare occasions. You know what I do? I apologize for it, which is what Aaron Rodgers should do, which is what a decent person would do, but I bet he won’t.”

I really hope he apologizes here, considering how he made a point of saying that he would if he was wrong. It’s what a “decent person would do”, right?

As of the publishing of this article, there has been no word on whether Nexstar will air the show or not.
