Simu Liu, known for his role as Shang-Chi, has once again put attention on himself for calling out fans for mocking Pedro Pascal.
Pedro Pascal has become one of 2025’s most prominent actors, with significant roles including his recent debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Reed Richards in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” However, this surge in popularity has come with increased scrutiny and backlash, particularly following his recent press tour.
The recent backlash toward Pascal centers around his interactions and close friendship with co-star Vanessa Kirby, who portrays Sue Storm in “The Fantastic Four.” Observers noted Kirby frequently touching Pascal during interviews, which she explained was an effort to comfort Pascal, who experiences anxiety during press events.
Pascal is also seen holding onto Kirby at other events, but she doesn’t seem to mind.

Some feel Pedro Pascal’s actions seem “creepy.”
Simu Liu defends Pascal’s behavior and slams fans
In response to the criticism directed at Pascal, MCU actor Simu Liu publicly defended his upcoming co-star via a post on the social media platform X. Liu described the negative reactions as “manufactured hate,” adding, “manufactured hate for someone simply because they’re experiencing a moment of extreme visibility (i.e., a press tour they’re contractually obligated to do) is really f—ing boring.”

Comments were mixed, with some defending Pascal and others remarking that his behavior seemed odd and that he never hugs male costars to stop his anxiety.
Despite the controversies, Pascal continues to gain more roles in his acting career, with anticipated roles including the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday,” where he’ll join both Liu and Kirby.
Simu Liu has been the center of controversy for his comments in the past. He has also called out fans before. After “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” debuted Liu posted this now deleted image about the “bad reviews”.
