It’s finally happening! After 14 years we have an announcement for a another “Shrek” film. “Shrek 5” will be released on July 1, 2026!
This announcement was hinted at last month by Eddie Murphy who plays Donkey. He also said that a Donkey spin-off was also in development.
During an interview with Collider, Murphy said:
“We started doing Shrek 4 or [correction] Shrek 5 months ago. I did this, I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. Shrek is coming out, and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a Shrek, and we’re doing a Donkey movie.“
Today, Dreamworks Animation posted this on X.
