Shrek 5 and Minions 3 Get New Release Dates

A shuffling at Dreamworks Animation has led to changes in the release dates of two highly anticipated animated films.

It has been announced today that “Shrek 5” will be pushed back from July 1, 2026 until December 23, 2026 so that “Minions 3” can be put into the July 1, 2026 spot.

This moves “Minions 3” up from 2027 into 2026. This makes sense, given that “Despicable Me” and “Minions” films normally release in July.

It was also revealed that Conrad Vernon will be directing Shrek 5 with the previously announced director Walt Dohrn. Vernon worked on Shrek 2 and directed other films like “Monsters vs. Aliens,” “The Addams Family,” and “Sausage Party,” which I wouldn’t admit to if I were him.

What we know about Shrek 5

Last July, Dreamworks Animation posted a teaser announcement on social media. The post revealed that original voice actors, including Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz as Fiona, are set to return.

It was also announced that an untitled Illumination film is also being pushed back from March, 19, 2027 until June 30, 2027.

Sadly, we will have to wait a bit longer for “Shrek 5,” but we will get “Minions 3” even faster!
