It’s that time of year again. Disney has kicked off their annual “Ultimate Toy Drive” to benefit Toys For Tots.
To start Disney is giving a $500,000 donation to Toys for Tots and you can help by purchasing toys to donate. You can select certain toys from Shop Disney to donate now through December 14th.
There are only 10 options listed that someone can choose from to donate. I think it would be better if they allowed more options for donation than just the very limited options they have for people to buy.
I do want to point out that Disney has you pay full price (or normal sitewide discounts) for the donatable options. Disney donated $500,000, which is nice, but it seems they will easily get that back in profits from people paying full price for their arguably overpriced items. Perhaps they will do more the closer it gets to the holidays?
Since they shut down most of the Disney Stores, they can’t do the usual monetary donation for every toy donated to a local Disney store.
But I digress.
Disney does have a long history with Toys For Tots that goes back to Walt Disney himself. You can find out all about that here.
Since the end goal here is to help out Toys For Tots this holiday season, you can also donate directly to the organization HERE.
Or you can find you local branch to donate to HERE.
You can also crowdfund or donate in someone’s memory.
No matter how you donate, via the ten choices on Shop Disney, through a local chapter, or even online. Please consider donating.
Times have been tough for many people and now there might be even tougher times coming with rumors of a housing crisis and the ripple effect from the last couple of years. They say kids are sometimes hit the hardest and maybe this could help even just a bit.
