SeaWorld Furloughs Over 90% of Their Employees

The Orlando Sentinel just reported that Sea World has just laid off over 90% of their employees and not just in Orlando.  SeaWorld has 12 theme parks across the country.

According to the SEC filing:

“The furloughed employees will not receive compensation from the Company during the furlough period after March 31, 2020; however, subject to local regulations, these employees will be eligible for unemployment benefits. The furlough period is uncertain at this time due to the temporary park closures and will be reassessed as business conditions dictate.”

They too were scheduled to be closed through the end of March, but with the “stay-at-home” orders and uncertainty of when they can re-open, they have been forced to lay off their employees.

We will update with more information as it becomes available.
