Ryan Reynolds Advocates For A “Logan Style” Blade Movie

The latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Deadpool & Wolverine, has been dominating the box office over the past couple of weeks. In the finale of the X-Men franchise that began at 20th Century Fox twenty-four years ago, we see two of the most popular characters from the franchise, Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, in a buddy cop-style trip through the Marvel multiverse.

Now, the film has become the highest-grossing R-rated Marvel movie of all time and may soon overtake 2019’s The Joker to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

In addition to the two heroes, multiple cameos from various past Marvel actors pre-MCU were included, such as Chris Evans’ Human Torch, Jennifer Garner’s Electra, and even Wesley Snipes’ Blade.

Blade was a very interesting inclusion. Not only was it one of Marvel’s first major cinematic successes, but it was also one of their first cinematic franchises. In fact, due to this appearance, Wesley Snipes has overtaken Hugh Jackman’s record for the longest-running Marvel actor since the first film was released in 1998.

Many fans welcomed the appearance, including his former Blade Trinity co-star Ryan Reynolds himself. In the movie, Snipe’s character says, “There’s only been one Blade. There’s ever only going to be one Blade,” followed by Deadpool looking at the audience.

Recently, Reynolds posted on his Twitter/X account showing pictures of Snipes behind the scenes of Deadpool & Wolverine and advocated for people to retweet to try and get a “Logan style” send-off for the character.

The idea of Snipes returning as Blade one last time would definitely be interesting, especially if it would be a one-last-dance kind of outing for the vampire killer. However, it is unlikely due to Marvel moving forward with their own reboot plans with Mahershala Ali. On the other hand, that version has been stuck in development hell. So we’ll see what happens.

What do you think? Would you like an “Old Man Blade” movie? Or is it best to pass the sword off to a new generation? Let us know your thoughts.
