RUMOR: “Star Wars Eclipse” Video Game Supposedly Leaked

ATTENTION: THE FOLLOWING REPORT IS A RUMOR. PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING STORY WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.

The Star Wars franchise isn’t a stranger to video games. Some of the best games of all time are Star Wars games. Star Wars Battlefront (2004), Knights of the Old Republic and Jedi Academy are well remembered to this day. Even recently games such as Jedi: Fallen Order were highly regarded. But now a recent rumor says that another game is around the corner.

According to known insider Jeff Grubb, he stated on the Giant Bomb podcast, that a game called Star Wars Eclipse was in development by Quantic Dreams. Quantic Dreams is known for games such as Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human. The studios is headed up by David Cage, known for making very story and character heavy games with lots of dialogue. Not quite who you’d expect making a Star Wars game.

Details revealed by Jeff Grubb were that the game will take place 200 years before the events of The Phantom Menace during the High Republic era, and that it will be an open world game.

These details are rather suspect since the High Republic push was seen as a commercial failure. Not to mention that Quantic Dreams doesn’t usually make open world games. So this could be a load of hot air from someone wanting to get attention. These claims are pretty outlandish, but you never know.

For the time being we will have to wait and see if any of these claims are accurate. But I don’t recommend taking them too seriously.
