RUMOR: Michael B. Jordan Eyed To Play Live-Action Hercules

ATTENTION: THE FOLLOWING REPORT IS A RUMOR. PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING STORY WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.

Over the past year or so the overall concept of Disney remaking a majority of their classic animated films into Live-Action has been losing traction with fans. Originally, many of them were guaranteed to cross the $1 Billion mark at the box office, now they can barely pass half that number. Even the number of direct-to-Disney+ remakes hasn’t been received as well.

The current situation revolving around the Snow White remake has people calling for Disney to cancel it with all of the controversies surrounding its lead actress, the swapping of the magical creatures/bandits, and now the delay and reshoots with scary CGI dwarfs.

While ‘Snow White’ is scheduled to be the company’s next big remake they also plan on making a remake is 1997’s Hercules. Despite not having much known about the overall story, it has been confirmed that the filmmakers will be taking inspiration from TikTok to try and appeal to modern teenage audiences.

But now it appears that we might have a clue as to who they might have in mind to play the lead role, and it’s not what a name many would expect. A recent report via Inside The Magic claims that Black Panther actor Michel B. Jordan is on a short list of actors who are being considered for the role.

While it is true that ITM has made some wild claims before regarding casting rumors, it should be noted that even if he is being considered, there is a chance that Jordan would not accept the role. Previously, he had been asked if he would want to play the DC Comics superhero Superman. He said that if he did he wouldn’t play the Clark Kent version but the Calvin Ellis version. He “would rather do something original”. So, if offered the role, he probably would prefer an original character with Hercules‘ abilities with his own story.

It was also mentioned that Taron Egerton, known for the Kingsman series, is also on the shortlist and that it is most likely down to those two.

So, while this is still just a rumor, and no official announcements have been made, all we can do is speculate and wait to see what happens. Otherwise, we may see another Disney remake get lambasted by audiences for changing too much.
