RUMOR: Marvel Is Considering Cillian Murphy For Doctor Doom

ATTENTION: THE FOLLOWING REPORT IS A RUMOR. PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING STORY WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.

The Fantastic Four film is finally starting to get underway at Marvel after being delayed due to the recent strikes in Hollywood. Since then, multiple rumors have swirled around what we can expect to see in the latest interpretation of the classic characters.

Certain rumors revolve around story elements from the film taking place in the past, to them skipping the origin story, to them featuring a female Silver Surfer. Other rumors consist of casting choices. One of the most recent is Pedro Pascal possibly playing Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic. Now, another casting rumor has surfaced.

According to a supposed industry insider known as @MyTimeToShineH on X, it appears that Marvel is considering actor Cillian Murphy as the next incarnation fo the villainous Doctor Doom. Not long after, another insider @CanWeGetToast stated that the character would most likely make a cameo in the Fantastic Four to set up a possible sequel or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Cillian Murphy has recently been in the public eye due to his portrayal of real-life physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in the 2023 Christopher Nolan film Oppenheimer. However, many Nolan fans may recognize him as the recurring villain in the Dark Knight Trilogy Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow.

While there is no doubt that Murphy could pull off a decent performance as the iconic villain, he is still one of many potential candidates. Another name mentioned is fellow Oppenheimer actor Rami Malek, who just recently played a James Bond villain in 2021’s No Time To Die.

What do you think? Would Murphy be a good choice to play one of Marvel’s most iconic villains? Or should they keep searching? Let us know your thoughts.
