Ross Lynch told PEOPLE he’s married at the premiere of Netflix’s Heartland. The Austin & Ally star says his wife isn’t big on fame, so he’s keeping the details private.
Austin Moon got married, and he didn’t make a big announcement about it.
Ross Lynch, the former Disney Channel star from “Austin & Ally” and “Teen Beach Movie,” confirmed he’s married at the premiere of Netflix’s “Heartland” on Thursday, Nov. 5. PEOPLE asked him the question straight out on the carpet.
“Yes, yes I am,” Lynch told the magazine in an exclusive interview.
PEOPLE also spotted a gold wedding band on his finger, which kind of settled it before he even answered.
Who is Ross Lynch’s wife?
That’s the part he isn’t sharing, and he explained why.
“I’m not trying to shy away from that by any means,” Lynch told PEOPLE. He added that “my wife’s not very fond of celebrity,” and said, “I am trying to be sensitive towards that and respectful to her.”
Then he kept it short and sweet. “But everything’s going well,” he said.
So no name, no wedding date and no photos. PEOPLE didn’t name her, and neither did Lynch. A name has been floating around on TikTok, but we couldn’t find a single credible outlet that backs it up, so we’re not printing it.
Lynch told PEOPLE, “I’ve been focusing a lot on my private life recently.” He also said, “I’m definitely excited about the future prospects.”
Were there hints that Ross Lynch got married?
Fans had their suspicions. Lynch came back to Instagram on June 28 with the caption “Been a minute, what did I miss?” according to NetflixJunkie. When a follower asked about the marriage hints, he replied, “Hahaha A LOT,” the site reported.
In hindsight, that was a pretty good answer.
What is Heartland on Netflix about?
“Heartland” is a mystery thriller set in the country music world. Jessica Chastain plays Misty Jones, a former country star who comes out of hiding to look for her missing niece, a rising singer, in the rough side of Nashville, PEOPLE reported.
Shana Feste wrote and directed it. The cast also includes Garrett Hedlund, country singer Carter Faith, Paul Sparks, Jennifer Nettles, John Hawkes and Ben Dickey.
Here’s the official trailer from Netflix:
Lynch plays Jace Jacobs, a character he called a “lost soul” who “loves celebrity,” per PEOPLE. In the trailer coverage, The A.V. Club said his character threatens Misty to get her to stop digging.
Yes, the guy whose wife doesn’t love fame is playing a guy who loves fame. Hollywood has a sense of humor.
“I was excited to be acting again for sure,” Lynch told PEOPLE. “The script was very compelling.” He said he liked “the prospect of working on a woman-led film,” and that Chastain “would give me this nod of approval” on set.
When does Heartland come out on Netflix?
“Heartland” starts streaming on Netflix on Friday, Nov. 13. That’s one week from today.
BroadwayWorld reported in October that a soundtrack is coming through Netflix Music, which makes sense for a movie about country singers.
What was Ross Lynch in on Disney Channel?
For a lot of Disney fans, Lynch will always be Austin Moon. “Austin & Ally” ran on Disney Channel from December 2011 to January 2016, across four seasons. He played a teen pop singer who teams up with a shy songwriter, played by Laura Marano.
He also starred as Brady in “Teen Beach Movie,” which premiered on Disney Channel on July 19, 2013. The sequel, “Teen Beach 2,” followed on June 26, 2015.
Music was always part of the deal. Lynch fronted R5, a band with his siblings that signed with Disney-owned Hollywood Records in 2012. After R5 went on break in 2018, he and his brother Rocky started The Driver Era. Their album “Obsession” came out in April 2025, and the duo was still touring this spring.
What else has Ross Lynch been in since Disney?
He grew up on screen pretty fast after Disney. Lynch played Harvey Kinkle in Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” from 2018 to 2020. He also voiced the lead in Netflix’s animated movie “Ultraman: Rising” in 2024.
“Heartland” is a darker turn than anything on that list. It’s also a pretty big cast for him to join.
Lynch was born Dec. 29, 1995, in Littleton, Colorado. He’s 30 now and turns 31 in late December.
So the kid who sang his way through Miami on Disney Channel is now a married man in a Nashville thriller. If you grew up on “Austin & Ally,” that probably makes you feel a little old. Same here.
Congrats to the happy couple, whoever she is. We’ll respect the privacy too.
