Review of Bayliner Diner Cuban Sandwich

One of the strengths of the Universal Orlando Resort value plus level hotels is their food offering. This started when Cabana Bay Beach Resort opened. The food court is known as the Bayliner Diner.

This food court can get very busy at peak hours. Most guests go to the pizza and burger station. A less popular station is the sandwich station.

During a recent trip, I decided to test out the sandwich station.

I ordered the Cuban sandwich.

This sandwich is filled ham, pork, turkey, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. The bread is a hoagie bun. A

ll the sandwiches are served with your choice of house-made potato chips, pasta salad, or fresh fruit. I selected the pasta salad since I had fruit with lunch. The cost is $11.99 before any annual pass discounts.

I ordered this sandwich to go. This was so I could take it back to my room to get some work done that evening.

In retrospect, getting my sandwich to go lowered the potential quality. Due the hot press used for my sandwich; the paper wrapped around it stuck to the bread.

The quality of the meat was high for a theme park resort food court and the balance of flavors was good.

The bread was a bit hard but probably needs to be for this sandwich. As mentioned, some of the bread was removed by the paper used to wrap my sandwich so that may have added to hardness. The pasta salad was just average. It did not add anything to the meal.

This is a good theme park resort food court item. The price is excellent. Having said that, this item is not one of the better tasting ones at this food court.

The burgers and pizza do taste better. There are also some international entrees to consider.

This is not a standard food court. The Cuban sandwich is good but there are better options. Maybe that is why the queue is shorter for this station.
