The Los Posadas Holiday Kitchen in the Mexico Pavilion at the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays offers two new food items this year: Tamale de Barbacoa and Giant Tostada de Chorizo. What did we think of these new Epcot festival food items?

Walt Disney World wrote this about Los Posadas Holiday Kitchen: “Feliz Navidad! Take your taste buds south of the border to celebrate the season.” This year’s Mexico-themed Festival of the Holidays food and beverage location offered some good quality food options.
Returning from last year, this holiday kitchen sells guests a Dulce de Leche Churro. This churro comes sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, as you might expect. This cost $6.50.
The Los Posadas Holiday Kitchen serves two new food items for 2023. These are a giant tostada and a new tamale this year. We thought both made great additions to the Festival of the Holidays.
Giant Tostada de Chorizo – $11.50

This large tostada comes covered in chipotle black bean puree, which makes a solid base for the tostada. The key protein of ground chorizo brings a good flavor complimented by the black bean puree. However, we noticed that the chorizo, which offered good flavor and some spice, resided mostly in the middle of the tostada. We found the spice level enjoyable. However, guests averse to spice might not agree.
The other components of this tostada include salsa verde, queso cotija, crema Mexicana, and pickled onions. These paired well with other toppings of the tostada.

Our main concern about this tostada relates to the price point. At $11.50, this marks the most expensive new food item at the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays. For full disclosure, our group was charged a lower price on opening day. This time, the inconsistencies of Walt Disney World pricing worked in our favor. We saw this at many of the holiday kitchens during this event. All we can tell you is to be ready for anything.
Tamale de Barbacoa at Los Posadas Holiday Kitchen at Epcot Festival of the Holidays – $8.50

Once again, we were charged a slightly lower price ($8.00) on opening day. Despite that issue, this tamale tasted excellent. It consists of shredded barbacoa beef in a corn masa topped with mole negro, queso cotija, crema Mexicana, and pickled onions.
The tamale filling and mole sauce serve as the highlights of this festival food item. Though we had some concerns about the texture overall, this ranks as one of our favorite new items this year at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.
In the past, we have not been overly impressed with the food at the Mexico festival booth at Epcot. Still, these two new items impressed us. As always, eat like you mean it!
