Review: Jalapeno and Cheddar Stuffed Pretzel Universal Studios Florida

The pretzel functions as many people’s go-to snack when visiting a theme park. In addition, pretzels come in various shapes and sizes. NBC Sports Grill and Brew offers a great table/full-service style pretzel. Over at Disney Springs, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar offers a charcuterie pretzel worth trying and a solid happy hour pretzel deal too. Of course, Walt Disney World fans love their “Mickey Pretzels.”

For the record, Walt Disney World standard pretzels taste better than Universal Orlando versions. However, an argument can be made that the “stuffed” pretzels at Universal Orlando rank higher than Walt Disney World version. Back when Universal Orlando quick service dining plan existed, I would suggest the “Pizza Stuffed Pretzel” for your snack credits (if you had grown tired of Butterbeer, of course).

Universal Orlando offers another type of stuffed pretzel, the Jalapeno and Cheddar Stuffed Pretzel. This snack can be found at Carmen’s Veranda in Universal Studios Florida. If you are unaware of where Carmen’s Veranda is located, go near La Bamba and Central Park Crepes. The food/beverage kiosk there is known as Carmen’s Veranda. This food stand sells various beverages, turkey legs, frozen treats, churros, and pretzels. In fact, currently, this food kiosk remains as the only one at Universal Orlando that sells jalapeno and cheddar pretzel.

So how is this pretzel? Currently, these cost $7.19 before any discounts. The portion size makes a solid snack with potential to share. As with most theme park pretzels, the quality of preparation varies wildly. One person might get a really dry one. Another might get an incredible soft pretzel. On average, these pretzels tend to be somewhere in between.

The jalapeno and cheddar flavor resides mostly inside the pretzel. While some flavoring and cheese can be seen baked on top, most of flavor is within pretzel. The pretzel tends to be soft on the interior even if you get a hard pretzel on exterior. If you are concerned about jalapeno flavor, I hardly noticed any real spice with these pretzels. The cheddar flavor dominates this pretzel. Though I would have enjoyed more of it, the cheddar flavor within the pretzel shined as the best part.

If I had to choose, I would still select the pizza version. Of course, I enjoy almost all pizza flavored items. Still, especially if you get an annual pass discount, this pretzel makes a great budget friendly snack.

As always, eat like you mean it!
