Review: Jacket Sweet Potato at London Taxi Hut at Universal Studios Florida

For the holiday season celebration at Universal Orlando Resort, the chefs devised a new vegan treat, the Jacket Sweet Potato. This will be found at the London Taxi Hut in the London Waterfront area of Universal Studios Florida.

This year, a brand-new holiday item provides Universal Orlando guests with a sweet treat. The popular London Taxi Hut will serve more than just loaded jacket potatoes and hot dogs for this year’s holiday event at Universal Orlando Resort. A sweet potato arrives at the London Taxi Hut.

When you visit this location, you may not see a sign for the holiday item, the Jacket Sweet Potato. However, the team members will be happy to make one for you. As a bonus, this qualifies as vegan. Jacket Sweet Potato – $10.99

The Jacket Sweet Potato consists of a roasted sweet potato with maple butter, dried cranberries, vegan feta cheese, candied pecans, and pomegranate seeds. This marks the first time we remember seeing a sweet potato sold at the London Taxi Hut.

At the end of the whirlwind day of trying holiday food at Universal Orlando, we had this. Based on the menu description, this holiday item offers a sweet treat for guests. The merging of maple butter, dried cranberries, candied pecans, and sweet potato provides a holiday flavor that guests will enjoy.

We found the maple butter a good vegan replacement for more traditional butter. This led to a nice texture as we ate the sweet potato. The pomegranate seeds also added some positive texture to the holiday treat.

Of course, the holiday touches of cranberries and candied pecans might remind some of their own holiday traditions. We felt those were nice additions.

Still, the best feature of this holiday season item relates to it being vegan, allowing more guests to enjoy it. We admit a bias toward vegan items that non-vegans will enjoy.

Concerns

Nevertheless, we found a few issues with the Jacket Sweet Potato. The size of the sweet potato was smaller than the usual baked potatoes served here. Also, we did not taste very much of the vegan feta cheese with the sweet potato we received. We think some guests might find that to be off-putting.
