When the first wave of Star Wars figures were being developed in 1977, toy manufacturer Kenner wasn’t going to have them on stores shelves in time for Christmas. So they released an “Early Bird” certificate as a placeholder. It was an unheard of idea at the time, but a huge, huge hit!

And it seems that Baby Yoda has become an unexpected hit for Disney, as official merchandise wasn’t ready at the launch of Disney Plus (and what they did have available a few weeks later was lacking!)

Will Baby Yoda toys be the must have toy for next Christmas? I guess that depends on whether or not the show stays in the good graces of Star Wars fans.
