Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium Dazzles With Asian Lantern Festival

The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium might be giving some amusement parks a run for their money in the “dazzling show” department.  Since August the zoo has run an Asian Lantern festival event that is both glorious in scope and appearance.

The event is on select nights and is going to end on October 30, but it is definitely worth the cost and time.

There are two options that were available, one being a walk-through option, which was almost all the nights. However, on a couple evenings they were offering a drive-through option for those that might not be able to walk.

It’s definitely a stunning display and I wanted to showcase some of that for you. Maybe Disney could offer something similar at the Animal Kingdom or Disney Springs.

Silk sculptures of animals and plants appear all over the large zoo. They are made of silk and some have movement as well.

We were able to visit a couple of days ago, however it was raining, but it somehow added to the lights.

Here are just some examples of the gorgeous displays.

We do have a walk-through video you can view on our pop-culture YouTube channel.

It is raining and the sound goes out at one point (Thom’s phone got wet.)

The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium really did a fantastic job with this one!

Even when it isn’t a special event like this one, the zoo is worth visiting. I highly recommend checking it out if you are in the Pittsburgh area. Plan for warmer weather when it’s all open.
