‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ May Have a New Writer

Disney is still working on a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ according to a recent rumor from The InSneider. According to their “sources,” Disney is eyeing another writer for the project. This time it’s Krysty Wilson-Cairns (“1917”).

Honestly, Disney needs to poop or get off the pot when it comes to the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise.  They’ve been teasing a film with Margo Robbie and then another with Jack Sparrow for years.

What is the new rumor?

The latest rumor is that this film will be about Jack’s son and another female character, likely Margo Robbie.

Reports indicate that this film is a “priority” for incoming CEO Josh D’Amaro and President/CCO Dana Walden.

It gets even weirder. Rumors say Disney wants to “create an original, iconic character, one envisioned as a punk-rock cross between Jack Sparrow and Emma Stone’s Cruella de Vil” in this film.

But why?

What about Johnny Depp?

It is possible Depp could appear in some capacity, but the film will not be focused on his character.

At this point, why even bother? Most fans have already moved on, and many don’t want a film that doesn’t have Captain Jack Sparrow in a leading role.

IF TRUE, this rumor sounds like they are trying to make a female pirate movie, but anchor it with a relative of Jack Sparrow, kind of like they did with Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner’s son in the last film “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” and that film did not do well.

Maybe it’s time to leave the curse alone and move on.
