Paul Bettany Reveals Marvel’s VisionQuest Coming To Disney+ In 2026

Marvel fans were treated to a major surprise at (NYCC) New York Comic Con 2025 when Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum brought out Paul Bettany to officially unveil VisionQuest, the long-awaited follow-up to WandaVision and Agatha All Along. The series, set to debut on Disney+ in 2026, marks the final installment in the trilogy exploring the story of Vision and his connection to Wanda Maximoff.

The Return of Vision and the Mystery of His Memories

Bettany, who has portrayed Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since 2008’s Iron Man, offered fans their first insight into where the series finds his character after the events of WandaVision.

“What’s different about Vision right now is that Red Vision gave Vision all of his memories, including the memories from within the Hex. But White Vision is having real difficulty connecting to them. So he has the memories, but he doesn’t have the emotions and the feelings, and I think that’s what the journey is. White Vision’s journey during the show is about his attempt to connect to those memories and who he was… but with lasers!”

The actor’s comments suggest that the series will explore Vision’s search for identity and emotional restoration following his rebirth as White Vision.

Star-Studded Cast and Returning MCU Faces

During the panel, fans got an exclusive sneak peek at early footage from VisionQuest, revealing a lineup of both new and returning characters. The cast includes Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, James D’Arcy reprising his role as J.A.R.V.I.S., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., and Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H.

In a thrilling reveal for longtime fans, James Spader returns to voice Ultron, the villain from Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), suggesting that Vision’s past — and his creator — may continue to haunt him. The footage reportedly ends with a mysterious CCTV clip showing Ruaridh Mollica as Thomas Shepherd, possibly tying into the Maximoff family storyline.

Behind the Scenes: Production and Creative Team

VisionQuest is helmed by Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard), who serves as both showrunner and executive producer. According to production details, filming began in March 2025 at Pinewood Studios in London under the working title Tin Man. The series wrapped production in late July 2025, following seven months of filming.

Directors include Terry Matalas, Byrne, Monteiro, and Vincenzo Natali, with cinematography by Christopher Ross, Ben Smithard, and Neville Kidd.

A Story Rooted in MCU Lore

When asked if VisionQuest would adopt a similar genre-blending approach to WandaVision, Winderbaum remained tight-lipped but teased that dedicated fans will be rewarded for their long-term investment in the MCU.

“The less we say, the better,” Winderbaum noted. “But what I will say about Terry’s vision for the show is that he knows the lore. If you’ve been following the MCU all these years, you’re going to be very, very rewarded.”

The series is expected to tie together threads from WandaVision, Agatha All Along, and other MCU projects exploring artificial intelligence and the nature of humanity — while setting up new stories for Marvel’s expanding multiverse.

VisionQuest will air on Disney+ in 2026.
