Today Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings gave an update on the new guidelines and phases being rolled out for Orange County.
Phase 1 which is effective immediately, indicated that social distancing guidelines will now allow for three-feet of separation between people instead of the previous six-feet of separation.
As such, theme parks should be able to increase capacity if they wished to do so.
So far none of the theme parks have changed their set capacity limits. They may not change them for awhile yet, but given summer is coming and Universal Orlando has the new VelociCoaster launching soon, we might see some announcements in the near future.
Phase 2 will go into effect when 50% of the population 16+ and over receive their first dose of the vaccine. Then the facial covering mandate for outdoors will be lifted for all individuals. Indoor face coverings, unless eating or drinking, will still be enforced. The three-feet social distancing rule will continue.
Phase 3 will occur when 70% of Orange County residents 16+ receive their first vaccination shot and/or all of Orange County’s rolling rolling positivity rate is 5% or below. Then all mandates will be lifted.
