Opening Day at Salt and Straw Disney Springs Location

After some time and more delays that expected, Salt and Straw opened at Disney Springs on April 20th, 2022. Though previously an exclusively ice cream place going in that spot seemed cursed. Ample Hills originally was supposed to take that spot. Then, Salt and Straw scheduled to be open in March 2022. In fact, their website at time of writing indicates opening as April 2nd. However, a premium ice cream place finally opened.

Salt and Straw opened to standard fanfare such as a ribbon cutting. One of the co-founders, Kim Malek, greeted guests as they exited the store with their ice cream. She especially wanted to say thank you to the first 100 guests there. Those first 100 guests got a free scoop of ice cream.

As you might expect, a long queue developed this morning waiting for Salt and Straw to open at 10am. Only a few guests were allowed within the store at a time. This store space provides limited areas indoors. Fortunately, based on location, plenty of outdoor seating resides within a reasonable distance.

Salt and Straw ice cream shop offers many unique flavors. Guests can sample these flavors before buying. This ability enhances the experience since some flavors might scare the average guest.  Salt and Straw ice cream shop currently offers unique flavors like (but not limited to):

Guests may also purchase some less adventurous variations of vanilla and chocolate. If just a scoop or cone fails to fulfill your ice cream appetite, you may buy a flight of ice cream. These flights come with 3 or 4 scoops of ice cream. Also, pints of their ice cream reside in a freezer to be easily be bought here.

Initial reviews speak highly of the ice cream here. You should expect to pay more for this premium ice cream though. Of course, more standard ice cream can be found at other places in Disney Springs. The special unique flavors here ensure a different experience over a normal ice cream shop. So far, high marks have been given for “Strawberry Honey Balsamic w/ Black Pepper” and “The Salty Doughnut Guava and Cheese.” The freshly made waffle cones create an enticing aroma as well as taste good.

One last word, if you arrive seeing a long queue, use mobile ordering. You will not find ability to mobile order on the Walt Disney World app. Go to https://saltandstraw.com/pages/locations#disney and select the Disney Springs location. So far, guests have received their ice cream easily, this way avoiding longer waits. Now, a few ice cream flavors fail to appear on mobile ordering menus so be aware of that.

All in all, the opening morning went well for Salt and Straw as well as for guests. As always, eat like you mean it!
