Earlier today we reported that ‘Finding Nemo the Musical’ was retired and was not returning to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Now it seems that there will be a new ‘Finding Nemo the Musical’ show coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2022.
This story has more drops than Splash Mountain!
Supposedly it’s in “Early Development” which is probably Disney speak for “Oh Crap people are mad so we better bring it back.”
Here’s what was posted on the Disney Parks Blog:
Although our Disney Live Entertainment team is still in the early stages of development for the show, the musical retelling of this underwater tale of family, friendship and kindness will feature new story material, as well as fan favorite songs such as “In the Big Blue World” and “Go with the Flow.”
Meanwhile Cast Members from the show were discussing how sad they were that it was over, on social media, just in the last day or two? Which is kind of weird given that Disney is now making a big deal about an “updated” show coming next year.
Hearing they aren’t bringing the cast back and this will be completely different. So this is just Disney changing direction. Likely damage control for the bad PR around people being let go.
