Watch out Disney a new theme park with IP is coming soon. The new Mattel Adventure Park is coming to Glendale, Arizona and is set to open in the first quarter of 2023.
This new theme park is a venture between Mattel and EPIC Resort Destinations LLC and will feature Mattel properties like Barbie, Mattel Games and Masters of the Universe. This is on top of previously announced Hot Wheels go-karting experiences and a roller coaster and a Thomas & Friends indoor theme park area.
For Barbie there will be a the Barbie Beach House that features the Barbie Flying Theater that will take guests from underwater locations clear to outer space. A Barbie Dream Closet with hologram technology that helps you create Barbie’s ultimate wardrobe. Then stop for some pink drinks, snacks and panoramic views on Barbie’s Rooftop.
For Masters of the Universe fans Castle Grayskull is going to be a 4,500+ square foot laser tag area. “A Laser Tag experience will bring the world of Eternia to life and invites guests to join an epic battle to regain the power of the Universe.”
You will also be able to play a nine-hole mini golf course based on Mattel games like Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Pictionary, and UNO.
Julie Freeland, Senior Director, Global Location Based Entertainment, Mattel offered this comment:
“Mattel Adventure Park will be even more engaging and entertaining at launch, with the addition of these iconic Mattel brand experiences. The expansion of this flagship attraction brings together the largest representation of Mattel’s beloved brands in a live space as never before.”
The President of Epic Resort Destinations Mark Cornell offered this statement:
“We are extremely excited to add Barbie, Masters of the Universe and Mattel Games themed attractions and rides to an already outstanding offering in development at the first-ever Mattel Adventure Park. We have spared no expense to bring these iconic brands to life in ways that will delight visitors of all ages for years to come.”
I’m kind of excited about this one. Hot Wheels, Barbie, and Thomas are all popular choices. Masters of the Universe with Castle Grayskull just sounds amazing (but please add classic She-ra too.)
I’m sure it isn’t going to be the size of Disney parks, but it might be another option for those that might not want to go to Disney.
