Disney has dropped teaser trailer for the upcoming “Lilo and Stitch” film. The film is set to release Memorial Day weekend next year.
Many were worried about how Stitch would translate into a live-action film, but he looks good. I’m more concerned about Jumba and Pleakley or how Stitch fits in with the live-action actors. We haven’t seen too much of that yet.
Here is the “Lilo and Stitch” teaser trailer.

The Lilo and Stitch summary reads,
“A live-action reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, “Lilo & Stitch” is the wildly funny and touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the Oscar®-nominated filmmaker behind the animated feature film “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” the film stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, with Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis, introducing Maia Kealoha. “Lilo & Stitch” is produced by Jonathan Eirich, p.g.a. and Dan Lin, with Louie Provost, Tom Peitzman and Ryan Halprin serving as executive producers.”
Last year, the live-action “Lilo and Stitch” film was under fire for hiring Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Nani, with fans claiming she was “too white” and trying to get her removed. They also didn’t like the casting of the original David actor Kahiau Machado. So they complained and dug for something to leverage and he was replaced with Kaipo Dudoit.
The complaints reportedly led to harassment of the actors and even the casting director.
Then, there was a discussion about replacing Cobra Bubbles with a character named Mrs. Kekoa, played by Jolene Purdy. Shortly after it was announced that Courtney B. Vance would be playing Cobra Bubbles in the film.
Hopefully, all the issues have been worked out!
The film will hit theaters on May 23, 2025.
