Disney has announced the 2026 honorees to be named Disney Legends, and the list mostly includes celebrities, with a couple of Disney artists or Imagineers, and Bob Iger for some reason. Yet, Michael Eisner still hasn’t gotten to be named a Disney Legend.
Here are the 2026 honorees:

- Chris Berman- ESPN
- Jerry Bruckheimer – Film
- Susan Egan – Voice
- Eric Goldberg – Animation
- Anne Hathaway – Film
- Bob Iger – Ex-CEO
- Kim Irvine – Imagineering (daughter of Imagineer Leota Toombs and animator Harvey Toombs)
- Dwayne Johnson – Film (hopefully not in the Maui wig)
- Jonas Brothers – TV/Music
- Lin-Manuel Miranda – Film/Music
- Alan Tudyk – Film/Voice
The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 16, at 1:30 p.m. PT at the Honda Center, as part of the D23 Event.
Many are wondering why Bob Iger was named as a Disney Legend the moment he left, yet former CEO Michael Eisner still has not yet been awarded. Eisner is credited with saving the company from financial collapse, the Disney animation Renaissance, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Euro Disney (Now Disneyland Paris)
Iger has led the company for years, but his legacy is more about buying up a lot of IP/companies, including Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Fox Assets. Except for sequels, Pixar is struggling at the box office, Marvel and Star Wars are in a slump/decline, Willow and Indiana Jones hit the wall, and the Fox acquisition is still considered a good move, but was far too much money.
Bob Iger also awarded himself the 50-Year Disney employee award, even though 22 of those years were at ABC BEFORE Disney bought the company, and he came with it. So, technically, he was not a 50-year Disney employee.
Here is what people are saying on social media
Some legits here but Iger, Miranda and Dwayne are scraping the bottom of the Barrel, embarrassing.

It’s about time Susan and Eric got this status they’ve been LONG deserving.

5 reasons why @Michael_Eisner is more deserving of the “Disney Legend” title than @RobertIger:
1) He saved Disney from *actual* decline in the 1980s.
2) He led Disney during its animation Renaissance
3) He expanded the parks into a global empire.
4) He built the modern… pic.twitter.com/ZWIqgPlFAK

I’m not against Iger getting the title but I think it’s absurd he’s getting one- especially this quick after his tenure- while Michael Eisner still hasn’t received one https://t.co/emevAkeAy8

I love The Rock: he’s one of the best entertainers to ever live. But how on earth is he a Disney legend before Michael Eisner?!

Michael Eisner also made the corporate head of Disney a pop culture celebrity position again by hosting two Disney TV series, the last one to achieve that was Walt Disney himself.

I’m sorry…Bob Iger is becoming a Disney Legend before Michael Eisner?!?!?
We seriously don’t say this enough: screw Bob Iger! pic.twitter.com/UjdIZYPS0u

There are few people in this world who deserve a Disney Legend award more than Michael Eisner.
Yes, he left on bad terms, and he made a lot of decisions that many folks don’t agree with, but he saved the company and the brand.
No one would be getting DL Awards without him.— Jomodi Marsta (@JomodiMarsta) March 26, 2026
How about Michael Eisner? Who reinvigorated the company and made all that money that Iger used to just buy IPs and studios

Bob Iger being a Disney Legend before Michael Eisner is all you need to know about the state of Disney right now.

Not saying that someday Bob Iger couldn’t be made a Disney Legend, but doing it immediately after he leaves, while his deserving predecessor still hasn’t been named, seems suspect.
