Reports indicate that a new Alvin and the Chipmunks film is being made 11 years after the last live-action film.
According to The Wall Street Journal, a new film is being made for a 2028 release from Bagdasarian Productions.
Former Paramount and Nickelodeon CEO Brian Robbins has a 25% stake in the production company. He seems to be a driving force for the new film.
To update the franchise, new social media content will be released ahead of the movie.
A new Alvin design has also been circulating on social media.

This would be the fifth live-action film.
Four films were released between 2007 and 2015.
- Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007)
- Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel (2009)
- Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (2011)
- Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (2015)
These films brought in about $1.4 billion, with Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel making the most at $443.5 million.
The other films fell between about $235 million and $361 million.
It’s unclear how this will go over with the “new audience” but those who enjoyed the film as children will likely want to share it with their own kids.
