Primeval Whirl is one of those Disney attractions that has been plagued in recent years by mixed reviews and the dreaded “Seasonal Closure” status. Now the attraction, which closed unofficially before the COVID pandemic, is truly on the brink of extinction, being shuttered behind newly erected construction walls.
Back in July 2020, the Dinoland USA attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom officially closed for good along with Rivers of Light (and Stitch’s Great Escape over at Magic Kingdom).
Following the filing of a construction permit last month (which expires in late April 2022), Disney has moved forward with the installation of construction walls around the attraction.

Primeval Whirl (along with Dinoland USA as a whole) has historically been met with mixed reviews by Animal Kingdom guests. The Dinoland area has a very kitschy feel, which has been viewed by many as a lazy inclusion of off-the-shelf carnival games and attractions.
Disney storytellers have, in fact, woven a detailed backstory to the area, based on the fictional historical exploits of “local opportunists” Chester and Hester. However, this backstory is buried so deeply that most guests don’t realize the story even exists.
