Disney has announced that the Muppet Courtyard and “MuppetVision 3D” will be closing permanently at Disney’s Hollywood studios. The entire area is going to be rethemed to Monsters Inc. with a new door-themed roller coaster attraction.
Before construction can begin on the new area, the current area must be closed. This will be done in two phases, with the first phase beginning on May 11, 2025.

Phase 1
Phase 1 will include the Grand Park area. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will also be shut down with this closure. The last day to dine at the restaurant is May 10, 2025.

Phase 2 sees the closure of the remainder of the Muppet Courtyard, including PizzaRizzo the “MuppetVision 3D” show, which ends on June 7.

June 8, 2025 the entire Muppets area will be shut down as construction will begin on Monster Inc.
Monsters Inc.
The next phase of Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be the Monsters Inc. area, which will include the new suspended door coaster.
One exciting aspect of the new coaster is that it will reportedly have a vertical lift as the door ride vehicles are lifted onto the track like in the film.

We don’t know much else about other attractions, shops or restaurants coming. I would assume they would retheme PizzaRizzo and Mama Melrose’s restaurants, but that is just a guess. There are also a couple of retail locations in the courtyard area that could be re-themed and reopened.
Many are sad to see the MuppetVision 3D show shutter. The Muppets will still be represented at the park as they are moving to the Rock’n Roller Coaster to be part of a retheme taking place there. At this time, no closure date has been announced for the Rock’n Roller Coaster.

If you want to see MuppetVision or eat at PizzaRizzo or Mama Melrose’s again, you need to get into Disney’s Hollywood Studios soon.
