Morning Coffee Cake Cookie from Gideon’s Bakehouse Disney Springs

As someone who has stayed at the Doubletree near Universal Orlando on numerous occasions, I enjoy a warm cookie in the morning. If you are a Starbucks fan, you can combine coffee with your warm cookie when staying at a Doubletree. However, the taste of that cookie and coffee always seemed off according to my coffee drinking experts. Now, that never stopped them from getting a warm cookie from the front desk each morning though.

In my recent quest to enjoy every cookie at Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs, I purchased the Morning Coffee Cake cookie. This cookie is only sold during morning hours. Based on cast members coming by to check on availability, those cookies must sell out often. Like other Gideon’s Bakehouse cookies, it costs $6 for one. Unlike most of Gideon’s cookies, guests can only buy this one at the Disney Springs location.

Gideon’s Bakehouse describes this cookie as an extra buttery vanilla bean cookie. The cookie contains cinnamon strudel as a filling. The cookie also offers a topping of homemade double baked butter crumbs. Gideon’s Bakehouse even suggests one of their excellent cold brews to pair with it.

Ok, so how was this cookie? First, the intention to create a breakfast coffee cake style cookie presents itself as obvious. The exterior portion of this cookie looks like a coffee cake. The texture provides crunch on outside and soft interior. When I cut this cookie open, the intent of “morning” flavor became even more obvious.

Personally, I wanted more cinnamon flavor to resonate with this one. I found the cinnamon flavor to be underwhelming. Of course, I am a huge fan of cinnamon. I expected more contrast in flavor from the other chip-based cookies from Gideon’s. The flavor provided decent quality but just less than I anticipated. Even though Gideon’s might discourage this, I feel this cookie would be better heated up more.

If you are looking for a breakfast type cookie without all the heavy chocolate flavor of most of the Gideon’s cookies, this cookie will fulfill that desire. As you can see, this cookie does not come loaded with chips on top like most Gideon’s cookies. Since Walt Disney World cast members try to sneak over to Gideon’s for this cookie often, they might know something good when they taste it. If you are looking for a solid traditional style cookie, this cookie might not be your best choice. For example, I shared all Gideon’s cookies with some cookie experts. They thought this cookie was good but not as good as others. However, they enjoy more traditional style cookies.

I hope this information helps you decide. As always, eat like you mean it!
